About us
Overview
Factal is a verified risk intelligence platform that alerts organizations when critical events around the world put their people, places or operations at risk. From severe weather and wildfires to shootings and strikes, Factal provides fast, trusted intelligence on a global scale.
The challenge is no longer just finding information quickly, but knowing what’s real and relevant. Security and risk teams face a flood of data, increasingly complicated by AI-generated content. Factal combines automated detection with journalistic verification to cut through the noise and surface critical events that matter to each organization.
Founded in 2018 by the team behind Breaking News at NBC News, Factal is based in Seattle with a newsroom in London. Companies including Target, Marriott and Salesforce rely on Factal, and more than 300 humanitarian aid NGOs use it for free.
What Factal does
Real-time risk intelligence
Factal uses AI to detect critical events from public data, then quickly verifies them with a 24/7 team of journalists. When a verified incident occurs near an organization’s locations – such as offices, stores or travelers – they’re notified immediately.
Geopolitical risk intelligence
Factal surfaces upcoming events and provides forward-looking strategic intelligence written by experienced editors. Organizations are notified when planned events are in proximity to their locations.
Threat and brand monitoring
Factal uses AI to detect threats and reputational risks directed at a member’s company, brands, facilities or executives across social media and other public sources.
Travel risk management
In partnership with International SOS, Factal alerts organizations when their active or upcoming travelers are in proximity to real-time critical events.
API and integrations
Factal integrates with a wide range of technology partners, and the Factal API makes it easy to build custom dashboards and equip AI agents to inform mission-critical decisions.

The Factal difference
Verification you can act on

A real person answers, 24/7/365
Members can ask Factal’s editors on duty about a developing situation at any hour in the industry's largest security chat network. Editors respond in three minutes on average.
Tips from the field
Members on the ground send tips to editors through chat and Factal's mobile app, used in more than 150 countries. Tips help editors verify faster, catch what public sources miss and keep people safe.
AI grounded in verified data
Factal’s AI tools draw on the largest living archive of verified events stretching back to 2018. Factal is built for security, and proprietary member data never touches a large language model.
Works where your team already works
Factal plugs into your maps, dashboards and AI agents through APIs and ready-made integrations. Every event arrives verified and precisely geolocated, so errors don't cascade through your security stack.
Mission
Factal is founded on a public service mission to protect people from imminent harm and help those in immediate need. We work hard to earn your trust through high standards in our code of ethics.
